About Crossroads Community Farm, LLC

Crossroads Community Farm, LLC is a 25 acre, certified organic vegetable farm specializing in diversified vegetable production. We run an 800 member customizable CSA, or veggie share, and also provide crops to grocery stores and restaurants through a small number of wholesale accounts. Our farm is focused both on high quality organic vegetable production and the continuing expansion of our social justice work, including: using sustainable/regenerative growing practices, providing free vegetables to food apartheid neighborhoods through the Purpose Grown Project, farmer training through the state apprenticeship program, and community connection through our farm blog and farm events. We started this work as young, privileged, college-educated environmentalists who wanted to grow food in a way that nurtures both the bodies that consume it and the land that produces it. We continue to do this work both because of the life-giving food we grow, and because we are challenged to continually work toward justice in our own sphere of privilege. Our Story

Crossroads Community Farm began in 2005, co-owned and operated by Cassie and Michael. They met at UW-Madison, sharing a commitment to addressing the climate crisis and building a sustainable future. They started growing food to nourish bodies and soils, and now feed over 850 households through their vegetable share program, with over 10% of their produce going to Madison households facing food insecurity. Their family, including three daughters, continues to evolve, bringing love, commitment, and a willingness to adapt to their farm and lives. Cassie also teaches members how to cook seasonal dishes and understand the importance of their food choices through newsletters and crew management. They market their produce through vegetable shares, Willy Street Coops, and a wholesale partnership with Garden to Be. The farm is located in Cross Plains, WI.
