Blue Ridge Mountain Maze

Welcome to our Corn Maze Fall Festival and Pumpkin Patch! Kate and Hub Knott and Luke Vonhemert are the co-owners of Blue Ridge Mountain Maze in Central Virginia. In 2020 during the pandemic Hub and Kate partnered up with Luke and decided to bring their beloved maze to the homeland of Nelson County. It was clearly a great decision and time to partner up with our dear friend Luke! Maddie Grimsley is Luke’s lovely partner and she joined our team in 2020 and in 2022 became the maze manager. Hub and Kate originally started the maze festival in 2000, when Kate and Hub ( now Afton residents) lived in the town of The Plains, up in northern Virginia. They dreamed big and built their little dream into one of the top corn mazes festivals in Virginia. It was the first corn maze in the DC area, and the first organic one in the US. It started small, but attracted a dedicated following every fall, eventually growing to 20,000 visitors a season and voted #1 corn maze in the DC area. We closed up shop (or farm you could say) after 20 seasons, took and established fall festival with us and moved it to the Blue Toad Hard Cider in the Heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, near the entrance to Wintergreen Mountain Top Ski & Golf Resort. Each year our team keeps growing it and expanding our offerings! We love what we do and can’t wait to share it with you…and get you Lost in FUN! Kateis “Queen Corn” who puts a lot of the beautiful and colorful touches you see around the farm. She has a deep love for the outdoors, raising her family, gardening, and keeping healthy. She makes sure that everything is running top notch and improving each season. She brings her dedication and love into everything she does. Hubis the “King Korn”, who does a lot of the hard work that needs to be done, keeps the crops growing, and makes repairs when they need repairing. He loves growing seeds, storage crops, and exploring the wild side of the woods. Lukeis the “Corn Duke” and has teamed up with Kate and Hub and has been a co-owner since 2020. Together they have worked seamlessly to bring the vision of the corn maze to life. He makes the work of the maze seem like play. Luke’s hard work and dedication keeps the whole maze running in tip top shape. Luke values time spent outside, corny jokes and being with people he loves. Maddieis the “Corn Diva” and has teamed up with her dear friends Kate and Hub and partner Luke, as the maze manager to bring the community together for some fall fun. She values purposeful work, spending quality time with her community, learning new skills, and practices that allow her to live in harmony with nature. She is dedicated to the corn maze and all of the amazing visitors. You will see her running around with a smile and keeping everything flowing smoothly and at tip-top shape. Violet, born in 2006, is our KORN KID”, who simply likes to laugh and have fun. She tests the swings and slides to make sure they are at peak performance. Violet makes sure the animals are alive and well. You may find her working the snack shack and selling you kettle corn. Okay this needs to be updated, as she is now out of high school and is an adult……but it’s just too cute to change it! Phoebe Roseis our little “Kernal” born in 2011. She looks forward to the maze so much every year. She loves to play with all of our amazing visitors and gets great joy in tending to her piglets. She is always amazed that all these other kids come every maze weekend just to play with her. “Ah, the good life”. Okay- updated……She is also pretty grown up now as a teenager and she loves the maze so much. She works hard in the snack shack and takes care of all the farm animals.
