Middle Ground Farm is 15 acres of bounty in Bastrop, TX. We respect our soil, our local ecosystem, our employees, and most importantly, our customers. We’re obsessed with quality and providing a great experience. Veggies are fun! They’re colorful and beautiful and fresh and alive. At Middle Ground Farm, we celebrate playing with your food. In an age where 99% of goods come from far away, there’s magic in being connected to local people and local food. We enjoy sharing the rhythms and realities of farm life with our customers, and we’re invested in educating the next generation of sustainable farmers. We produce community. At Middle Ground Farm, we’re as invested in growing quality produce as we are in creating a place for neighbors to connect and new farmers to thrive. Lorig, Owner and MGF President Lorig, a born and bred city Texan, has been farming for 10 years. They are one of the co-founders of the Central Texas Young Farmer Coalition and a board member of Farmshare Austin, a local non-profit that runs a farmer training program. Bok choy makes them happy. “Veggies are so colorful and fresh and fun. Think of all the tasty things you can make with them! Vegetables are happy—different shades of green, vibrant and alive—especially when they’re local and harvested close to delivery. There’s joy in creating something beautiful in your kitchen.” Evan, who once owned a produce farm in Oregon, has worked with organizations including the Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, Foodshed Investors, Common Market Texas, Texas Farmers Market, and others. He loves cracking open a box of veggies from MGF each week and taking in that farm-fresh smell. “Respect is being thoughtful of all people and the products you give them and the way you create those products. Respect falls on different levels: respect for employees, for the owners, for the customers, for the soil, how the whole thing operates. It’s layered into everything.” Middle Ground Farm is honored to be a training ground for the next generation of sustainable farmers. Each season we welcome a rotating cast of employees, both newbies and expert growers.
