The Plantation - Urban Farm

Heeyy, I'm Farmer Chippy! My dream was to create an Agri Hood in the City of Baltimore that spreads love, supports the community, and brings healthy food to surrounding cities. We're more than just rows of fruits and vegetables — we're training beginner farmers and providing resources to legacy farmers, addressing food deserts and creating food security. Our neighbors have access to cleaner, greener foods by nourishing themselves from the ground up. Plantation Park Heights Urban Farm grows organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs across 5 acres of reclaimed vacant lots in the Park Heights neighborhood of Baltimore. We operate two 2,700 sq ft high tunnels for year-round growing — everything from kale and collard greens to Trinidad scorpion peppers, sugar cane, and medicinal plants like plantain leaves. Founded in 2014 by Richard Francis (Farmer Chippy), a former Biomedical Field Service Engineer turned urban farmer, we've distributed over 515,000 pounds of food to our community. Named one of the top 10 innovative farms by the American Farm Bureau Federation, we're Black-owned, Caribbean-American founded, and certified by the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
