Panther Branch Farms is a first-generation farm family, James and Renae, along with their four boys, based in the Raleigh, NC area. The farm grew out of a desire to build a life rooted in the land and to serve their community with honesty and care. Renae, a former nurse, decided to focus on family and food after COVID, leading them to start milking their first cow in the summer of 2024. James initially started the farm by growing and processing dry hay for local cattle owners, which expanded into fermented baleage and silage, focusing on high-quality, locally grown feed to reduce reliance on grain. The farm's mission is to produce food they would want for their own family, ensuring care, consistency, and transparency in all their practices. The herdshare program for raw milk and eggs began due to strong community demand for these products. The farm is committed to careful handling and weekly testing of their milk, which their own family consumes daily. They also raise dairy cows, beef cattle, and laying hens, with a focus on pasture-raised animals and locally sourced, non-GMO feed when supplementation is needed. The farm's practices include rotational grazing to support animal health and soil quality, and their milk is never pasteurized or homogenized, preserving its natural qualities. The farm also offers hay and baleage for livestock, reflecting their comprehensive approach to sustainable agriculture.
