Simon grew up in Grainger County helping his uncle in hay fields, graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2018, and purchased the farm shortly after. We raise grass-fed and grass-finished beef that is rotationally pastured, as well as heritage Berkshire pork on non-GMO, corn-free, soy-free wheat-based feed grown locally. Our Katahdin lambs are true spring lamb — born on fresh pastures in spring and raised for fall harvest on grass and grass hay exclusively. We never use hormones or antibiotics and we never spray our pastures or the feed we grow and mill ourselves.
Simon grew up in Grainger County, always knowing he would want to own his own farm. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2018 and shortly after bought the farm. Interested in farm-to-table and sustainable farming, he started with beef, and after getting married, he and Andrea ventured into pork and lamb, growing the family farm with a strong belief in ethical and sustainable animal raising. They raise Berkshire pigs, Angus, Charolais, and Hereford cattle, and Katahdin sheep, focusing on healthy, well-marbled products through rotational grazing and high-protein grasses for cattle, and spring lamb raised exclusively on grass for fall harvest. They feed their pigs non-GMO, corn and soy-free feed grown by them and outsourced locally. Their cattle are raised from birth on the farm, never seeing hormones or antibiotics, and spend their lives on pastures, starting with milk for at least 6 months, then exclusively on grass and hay grown on the farm. Their Katahdin lamb is born on fresh pastures in the spring and raised for fall harvest, eating only grass and grass hay. The meat is mild, tender, and healthy, unlike commercial breeds. They focus on getting a decently marbled product by ensuring their cattle are fed high protein grasses like alfalfa. They strongly believe in raising animals ethically and sustainably.
