Charles DeBerry started vegetable farming in high school as part of his FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience. Charles and Cheryl DeBerry began their fresh produce farm in 1998 with a half acre of tomatoes and peppers. The farm has since expanded to eight to ten acres of fresh produce, including over 50 types of vegetables, melons, herbs, gourds, and berries. Their farming roots grow deep, as both Charles and Cheryl were raised on farms with diverse activities. Charles is a full-time farmer, raising James and Carla, while Cheryl works as the Broadband & Energy Manager for Garrett County Department of Technology & Communications. James DeBerry also runs Grimm's Garden, part of DeBerry Farm Fresh Produce, focusing on flower plants and cut flowers. The family takes pride in being "low input" farmers, using organic and all-natural methods, and not growing GMO crops, with their children actively involved in the fields daily. The farm sells its produce and jarred products at farmers markets and through the Garrett Growers Cooperative to grocery stores, restaurants, and other retailers. They also operate a farm stand during the summer season, offering fresh produce, pepper jelly, pumpkin butter, bouquets, and sunflowers alongside other local farm products. The farm does not grow tree fruits or offer farm visits. They are not certified organic but use organic methods and avoid synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. The farm's website was launched on June 2, 2013, and is powered by Weebly. The farm is located in the Appalachian mountains of extreme Western Maryland. They can be contacted by phone at 240-321-9444 or via Facebook message or email at deberryfarm@gmail.com. The farm has received positive testimonials from customers, praising their produce, hot pepper jelly, and presence at farmers markets. The farm's products, including pepper jelly and pumpkin butter, are also available at various local retailers such as Casselman Creamery, Little Crossings Pantry, The Gallery
