Food Works funds and maintains five main food and farming programs for Southern Illinois: -Farm Beginnings®; an intensive training program for beginning and transitional farmers, which aims to create financially solvent and flourishing local farms through education and mentorship. -The Farming Alliance; a farmer-driven educational and social network encouraging area farmers to learn from one another. -The Winter Farmers Market; a winter season farmers market and community space for local producers, farmers, and artisans to showcase their products, also featuring cooking demos and educational activities. -The Mobile Farmers Market; a farmers market on wheels, connecting communities across Southern Illinois with locally grown, seasonal food. -Southern Illinois Link Hub:Through partnership with Link Up Illinois, we offer support to markets involved in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and provide Link Match coupons for purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables. The program provides a dollar-for-dollar match for customers using SNAP/LINK/EBT, effectively doubling their food dollar at the farmers market.
