Joella and I, Tyler, both grew up on family farms before we were married. I lived and worked on a conventional dairy, poultry, and crop farm in southern Lancaster County where I learned hard work, resourcefulness, the importance of animal health and the value of observing nature. Because of my experience and observations on a conventional farm, I began studying and looking for a more holistic, diverse, and sustainable method of growing food that is beneficial to people, community, animals, and the environment. We now manage Mirror Image Farms and live on our own property in Bainbridge, PA along with managing two other rented properties. We produce 100% grass-fed beef, pastured pork, chicken & turkey along with various other ethically and sustainably produced products from other farms and local small businesses in our region. Pictured below: Tyler (left) Dove (middle) Joella (right) Here at Mirror Image Farms we observe nature’s principles and patterns and integrate natural methods throughout our farming operation. Therefore, our animals live healthy lives on the pasture, being rotated from paddock to paddock, similar to the movement of the great American buffalo herds of the past. The movement of animals in this way creates nutrient-dense top soils which produce nutrient-dense pastures which produce nutrient-dense animal proteins. Currently we pasture raise beef, hogs, chicken and turkey. The ethics and vision of Mirror Image Farms are broader than just a single farm or particular location. We envision the establishment of Mirror Image Farms’ vision on other sites as opportunity presents itself and seasons permit.
