We raise our cattle on responsibly managed land using regenerative practices, resulting in healthier animals, healthier ranchers, and more nourishing beef for you. In 2019, Hampton, Jacob, and I banded together to start what is now Blue Sky Ag. With little money to our names, we bought a handful of cattle and jumped in—despite having zero ranching experience. What we did have was a desire to challenge the norms of farming in our area and create something different. At first, we built a somewhat conventional cow/calf operation, breeding cows and raising calves for sale. But along the way, we started experimenting with regenerative practices like rotational grazing and cover cropping. The more we learned, the more we realized we wanted to go beyond the conventional model. We loved working with the land instead of against it, and we wanted to find a way to bring high-quality, naturally raised beef directly to our community. But figuring out how to make that shift wasn’t easy. Then, in 2024, everything changed. My health took a serious dive, and I was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS). Life turned upside down—mentally and physically, even the most basic tasks became a struggle. It was a pivotal moment. I knew I couldn’t keep living the way I had been, and I started to look at our business through a new lens—one that prioritized sustainability, integrity, and alignment with our values. That’s how we got here—growing from three people who knew nothing about cows, to running a semi-conventional cow/calf operation, to now building a beef program that truly reflects who we are. Our goal has always been to raise cattle as naturally as possible and provide our community with beef they can trust. The path hasn’t been direct, but we finally feel like we’re heading in the right direction—one that benefits the land, the animals, the ranchers, and the people who nourish their families with our beef. This next chapter of our story is just beginning, and we’re hopeful about what’s ahead.
