Diversified Family Farm
4 Easy Steps to Transition to Spring Forest Farm Beef:
Our low-stress animal management practices are based on observation of the herd. Our calves are born, raised, and finished on pasture and the whole herd is managed as one group, except for the bull and some friends to keep him company when it's not breeding season. We provide free-choice minerals and salt. We are still learning how to stockpile enough grass to carry us through 365 days of grazing. In winter we feed locally purchased hay that is also chemical free. (We have to trust the farms where we buy hay as organic hay is not available locally.) No supplemental grains are used.
The farm is in the process of development, outlining steps in the Regrarians Platform . Subsequent blog entries will chronicle the story from there.
