We desire to see a Northwest Arkansas where all people have access to local, fresh, nutritionally dense foods that are grown through sustainable agricultural practices. We believe that all of our community members should have access to fresh, nutritionally dense food. We believe that we have a responsibility to care for our environment as we produce that food. We believe providing for all community members and preserving our environment is the best way to deliver long-term prosperity to our community. In Arkansas, access to fresh, nutrient-dense food is a significant challenge. Our state consistently ranks among the top five states in the nation for food insecurity,diet-related disease, and childhood food insecurity. And right now,Arkansas is ranked number one in the nation. But behind that, over 93,000 of our neighbors—1 in 6 people in Northwest Arkansas—are food insecure. These are not just statistics; they represent the daily struggles of our friends, neighbors, and community members. In Benton, Washington, Carroll, and Madison counties alone,15.4% of households experience food insecurity—significantly higher than the national average of 13.5%. This means many Arkansans remain uncertain of when their next meal will come or if it will be enough to sustain themselves and their families. ARKANSAS CONSISTENTLY RANKS IN THE TOP 5 STATES FOR FOOD INSECURITY. 1 IN 6 PEOPLEIN NWA AREFOODINSECURE. ON AVERAGE IN THE U.
