Curtis and Sarah Millsap bought the farm in 2007 from James and Erma Brown, who ran a successful nursery and bedding plant business for more than 30 years and built the farm’s original greenhouse, shop, and house in the late 1970s. Starting with just one acre of vegetables and a 20-member CSA in 2008, the Millsaps grew the operation into a thriving, year-round farm supported by their eight daughters, young son, and an evolving crew of apprentices and community members. Over the years, they’ve experimented with nearly every small-farm model imaginable — from poultry and livestock to flowers, bakery goods, and produce — learning what nourishes both land and family. Today, Millsap Farm grows roughly two acres of vegetables and flowers, with more than 25,000 square feet of growing space under plastic — including high tunnels, caterpillar tunnels, and a solar-passive Chinese greenhouse. They use organic practices to grow nutrient-dense food for their CSA members, local markets, and restaurants. Millsap Farm isn’t just a business; it’s a learning community. Interns, WWOOFers, and neighbors share in the daily rhythms of planting, harvesting, and sharing meals. Conservation and stewardship guide every decision — from no-till beds to solar heating and intensive, water-wise plantings. The Millsaps’ mission is simple: raise healthy food in a way that’s good for people, the land, and future generations.
