Behind the Oaks Farm

Zachary and Samantha Platt, along with our family, steward the land and animals of Behind the Oaks Farm. We are located in Schertz, Texas, right outside of San Antonio, and have been operating the regenerative farm together for 5 years, starting with a calling from God to start selling grass fed beef and poultry with no knowledge of what we were doing. But we have learned and grown so much along the way. When visiting thefarm store or farmers markets, you will be able to meet us and our 5 kids: 2 boys and 3 girls. We enjoy visitors at the farm so that they too can make a connection with the land and animals. We want to bring back the connection between people and their food, knowing that these animals are raised with love, care, and the best that we can provide them because in return, they will nourish us. As the next generation in agriculture, we are choosing to change things up a bit for the sake of our family and the community around us,practicing methodsto regenerate and restore the land as a way to give back to the land and animals that we love. When praying about beginning this journey, we wanted it to be something more; it is stewardship of what God has gifted us, and it’s about the people, the land and animals creating a healthy, strong community. We focus our efforts on raising grass-fed beef, pasture-raised chicken & turkey, along with pasture raised pork and eggs.  We deliver to the surrounding areas every Thursday, and on Saturdays, you can find us at the Pearl Farmers’ Market (downtown San Antonio), Sunset Ridge Farmers Market in the Alamo Heights area, and New Braunfels Farmers’ Market from 9-1pm, rain or shine. We are open on farm every Thursday from 3-6pm and Saturdays 9:30-12:30. We set up right in front of our Farm Store that will be open later this year Godwilling.
