Walnut Creek Farm is a family owned and run business with 50 acres of land and 6 greenhouses. In our greenhouses we grow greens, berries, tomatoes, squash, peppers and much more. We are using a method called aquaponics. Aquaponics is a form of agriculture that combines raising fish in tanks (recirculating aquaculture) with soilless plant culture. In aquaponics, the nutrient-rich water from raising fish provides a natural fertilizer for the plants and the plants help to purify the water for the fish. We also have a peach orchard, cut flowers, 10 live almond trees, and row cropping, including: Melons, squashes, radish, carrots, onions, and potatoes. For other fresh produce, we partner with Texas farms that we have visited and verified that they practice the same growing methods and/or are organic. Walnut Creek Farm started in 2001 after Forster left the corporate world. The land is 50 acres with one side of Black Clay and one side sandy loam. The actual “Walnut Creek” (creek) runs from Stephenville through our farm to Arlington, thus the name. We have been in the cattle business for 25 years. Our land was not being used so we added thousands of tons of mulch that we then tilled in, and then improved our irrigation techniques. All crops are hand planted to minimize impact on soil – water and full usage. Mark is a first-generation Farmer, whose mother also had a passion for growing produce. Mark grew up with family gardens, and after a major medical issue became determined to Eat Vegetables and help everyone have quality greens. Linda is from a farming family that has survived off the land. She is a very mechanical and detail-oriented Gourmet Chef that knows The Best Ingredients. Chaz is a second-generation Farmer and the son of Mark and Linda. He has grown up on the farm and loves the challenge of it, working hard in all aspects from planting seeds to harvest and processing.
