When I was young and living on the farm we always killed a hog every fall for the family. The best sausage I ever had was shortly after that when Mon fried some of with fresh biscuits. I thought I would never taste sausage like that again until I got some of yours. It was just like Momma use to make!! Tonight we had Swedish meatballs made with your beef! Delicious! Sean and I enjoyed a grilled flank steak which was amazing and last weekend we had filet mignon for Father’s Day. You guys have done such a great job with your beef. Tasty and healthy ! My goodness those pork chops were amazing! We could tell a big difference in the look of the meat right away. It wasn’t white and pasty like the pork from a grocery store but had a beautiful red hue. We fried some up in olive oil and they were indeed suclent and delicious! And knowing these animals were well treated and only fed the best high quality non gmo feed made our dining experience that much more enjoyable. Looking forward to cooking up a pork shoulder next. Thank you for going to all that trouble to provide such outstanding healthy meat that our entire family enjoy’s eating. Thank you so much for your warmth and hospitality. We left your farm more knowledgeable and energized. It has been a real struggle to find good, clean food sources and we look forward to enjoying more of your carefully raised meats. Please let us know when your beef becomes available. I am getting the word out to my friends about Puddle Moon Farm and several have expressed an interest in visiting the farm as well. We so enjoyed the bacon and sausage from Puddle Moon Farms over the Thanksgiving holiday. I cooked up breakfast for the crowd every day and there was not a morsel left. I personally enjoyed the bacon. The thick cut rind makes it extra tasty. The hot sausage was well seasoned although I wouldn’t mind an extra kick of red pepper…perhaps an “extra hot” will be offered one day…! I just wanted to jump in this morning and let you know Janice and I finished the last of the 4 pounds of bacon and it is the best bacon I have ever tasted. Just awesome. Janice put one of the loins in the crockpot yesterday and once again, it was the very best. Your pork makes eating around our house a true culinary delight. Oh, and let’s not forget the eggs, which by no coincidence, were outstanding as well. Thank you for touching our lives at so many levels, but the tummy level is most important. What makes Puddle Moon Farms better? Simple, we developed our facilities from the ground up-literally. With natural grasses, fresh water and we only use non-GMO feeds. We are focused on raising happy, healthy pigs and beef cows in a clean, natural environment. All our animals enjoy fresh air, sunshine, clean water and room to roam. And while the cows primarily eat the wide variety of grasses in our pastures the pigs enjoy non-gmo (Genetically Modified Organisms) feed to supplement the cornucopia they forage up for themselves in the woods. We do not vaccinate our animals and here’s why. Early on we had a conversation with Joel Salatin who’s well known in the world of regenerative farming. He said healthy animals who are raised the way God intended in a clean environment don’t need artificial vaccines. So we’ve avoided vaccines and our animals have thrived! We regularly move our herds to fresh new paddocks so the land they’ve chomped, rooted, pawed and pooped on has time to heal and regenerate. This is how animals thrive in a natural environment. Clean water is probably the single most important element consumed by our animals. We know dirty water can lead to a host of health problems. And while it’s commonplace on many farms to let animals drink from unprotected ponds or streams we take a different approach. Underground Waterlines We’ve invested in almost a mile of underground waterlines that deliver clean well water to our livestock. In fact the source is the same well that services our home. The well is over 400 feet deep and drilled through solid granite to clean, cool aquifers. We even designed and built our own shaded water cart to ensure our animals get clean fresh water all the time. In short they drink what we drink because we’re convinced that clean water is vital to happy, healthy animals. We rotate our cattle and pig pastures to ensure our animals always get the best feeding environment possible. They don’t stand around in their own waste but regularly move to fresh quarters where delicious grubs, roots and grass awaits. The idea is to work with Gods creation as closely as we can; to follow the natural rhythms of life that have sustained healthy herds and flocks for millennia. What’s the big deal about GMO’s? Genetically Modified Organisms or GMO’s are seeds that have been artificially modified by scientists in order to achieve a particular goal such as drought resistance or herbicide poison resistance. This is very different from hybridization which has been practiced for thousands of years where plants are naturally crossed to achieve desirable traits. A variety of independent studies have shown GMO plants can lead to health problems. But just as troubling is the weed control poison sprayed on them. GMO seeds are manipulated to allow the powerful poison Glyphosate, also known by the trade name Roundup, to be used by farmers worldwide for weed control. The same company that produced Agent Orange for the Military during the Vietnam War manufactures this powerful herbicide. Here’s an article from the National Geographic with more on Glyphosate. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2015/04/150422-glyphosate-roundup-herbicide-weeds/ Currently over 90% of the world’s corn and soybeans are sprayed with Glyphosate multiple times during a growing season. Wheat is also sprayed with it to aid in the drying process prior to storage. Common sense would suggest that before you go around spraying poison on the worlds food supply extensive studies by independent researchers would need to verify the safety of such a radical move. But that didn’t happen. Tragically the U. S. Government chose to rely on “studies” by the manufacturers themselves instead of independent third parties.https://www.organicconsumers.org/news/five-ways-fda-has-failed-consumers-genetically-engineered-foods Amazingly the manufacturers found no health issues and declared their product safe for human consumption! And when third party researchers began
