Kevin grew up as an Iowa farm kid and left home for the U.S. Air Force Academy and a military career. He retired in 2015. Mikki grew up in small town Oklahoma garnering a love of nature, but little farming experience. She left her career in mortgage banking in 2015 for the glamour of farm life. We saw the movie "Food Inc" at a theater in Washington D.C. in 2008. It inspired us to critically investigate nutrition, modern agriculture, our food supply and the links to our nation's chronic disease epidemic. We visited Polyface Farm and met Joel Salatin (he's in the movie). We decided to raise our own food and start a small farm/homestead. We moved to Hampshire, TN in 2015 and started a farm. We model Joel Salatin's methods from his Polyface Farm in Staunton, VA. We've raised beef, pork, chicken, turkey, ducks, and eggs while selling through local farmers' markets and retail stores. For 2022, we've reduced our sales to bulk beef and eggs as detailed below.
