This is simply dummy text of the print type setting This is simply dummy text of the print type setting The Fountain Inn Police Department is inviting residents to gain a behind-the-scenes look at local law enforcement through the 2026 Citizen Police Academy, a free, interactive program designed to build understanding, transparency, and connections between officers and the community they serve.The eight-week program will take place Tuesday evenings from March 24 through May 12, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Participants will meet at the Fountain Inn Municipal Court (300 Wall Street) and will take part in engaging classroom discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on activities led by department personnel.The Citizen Police Academy offers residents the opportunity to learn how the department operates and how officers respond to real-world situations. Throughout the program, participants will gain a deeper understanding of modern policing through interactive sessions led by Fountain Inn Police Department personnel. Topics will include criminal investigations and how detectives gather and analyze evidence, traffic enforcement and roadway safety, K-9 operations, victim assistance resources, constitutional law and the legal framework that guides policing, officer safety practices, and the many ways officers engage with and support the community.Participants will also have the opportunity to meet members of the department’s K-9 unit, including UPO Atwood and K-9 Chops and UPO Kunz and K-9 Deuce, who are nationally certified in narcotics detection. Demonstrations will showcase how these highly trained teams assist officers in detecting illegal substances and supporting public safety operations.In addition to law enforcement operations, the academy will highlight the department’s strong commitment to community engagement. Officers will share how they partner with residents through outreach programs such as the Neighborhood Watch Program, Senior Watch, Youth Summer Camps, and community initiatives like the Domestic Violence Awareness Walk.
