Organic Moringa, Turmeric & Shikimic Acid — Opp, Alabama
We're Greg and Carole Lolley, and we've been farming this land in Opp, Alabama since 2011. What started as a passion for growing food the right way has turned into something we never expected — a small farm that ships medicinal plant products to customers all over the country who can't find anything like it anywhere else. We didn't set out to build a supplement business. We set out to farm honestly. Like a lot of people, we got interested in herbal medicine because conventional options kept coming up short. We started growing moringa, turmeric, and medicinal herbs for ourselves — then for neighbors, then for farmers markets, then for customers who found us online looking for something they couldn't find in stores: plants grown by people who actually knew what they were doing, on land they actually cared for. The sweet gum ball extract came later. We'd been reading about shikimic acid — the compound used as the starting material for certain antiviral medications — and realized we were sitting in the middle of one of the best natural sources of it in North America. Sweet gum trees grow wild all over southern Alabama. Most people spend their fall weekends raking them up and cursing them. We started harvesting them. A few things we'll never compromise on: ✦ No pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers — ever ✦ Regenerative practices that build soil health rather than deplete it ✦ Hand harvesting at peak potency — not when it's convenient ✦ Small batch processing so nothing sits in a warehouse ✦ No fillers, additives, or ingredients we can't pronounce ✦ Ships from our farm — usually the next day We're not USDA certified organic — that certification is expensive and designed for large operations. But our farming practices exceed organic standards. We know every square foot of this land and everything that goes into it. What Makes Mayim Farm Different Most herbal supplements on the market are grown overseas, imported in bulk, and encapsulated or bottled in a facility that handles hundreds of other products. The company selling it to you has often never seen the farm it came from. That's not how we operate. When you order from Mayim Farm you're buying from the people who planted the seeds, tended the plants through Alabama summers, harvested by hand, and processed everything right here on our property. We can answer any question you have about our products because we did every step ourselves. Farming has always been about more than crops for us. We're passionate advocates for small farmers and have worked with organizations and programs that support agricultural communities across the region. Teaching others is one of our greatest joys — we've hosted classes on the farm and believe strongly that the knowledge of how to grow and use medicinal plants should be shared, not hoarded. Mayim Farm has also benefited from USDA and NRCS cost share funding, including a tunnel house that extends our growing season and allows us to produce more of what our customers depend on year round. We're located at 29021 Bell Crossing Road in Opp, Alabama — right in the heart of Zone 8b growing country. If you ever want to talk farming, herbal medicine, or anything we grow, reach out. We read every message personally. 📧info@mayimfarm.com📞(334) 403-5576 — Greg & Carole Lolley, Mayim Farm With the help of the "NRCS" we were able to secure cost share funding from USDA and NRCS. This was a major upgrade to our growing area and provides season extension for our long grow season plants. Adding a product workspace was very important for quality and safety... Preparing additional medicinal plant grow space... Teaching others is one of our passions... One of our greatest aspirations here at Mayim Farm is to pass along any knowledge we have gained on to those around us for the benefit of all...
