We are a family farm raising grass fed and finished beef shares, and raw milk. We implement regenerative practices, including intensive rotational grazing, to naturally improve the health and fertility of our soil. Our animals are raised to live the best life possible on quality forage in our pastures and wooded silvopasture acreage and local grass hay in the winter.
Becca, the farmer behind Barksdale Homestead, is the 5th generation to live on Ten Eyck Ranch. She grew up helping her Grandpa with cattle and returned to the farm with her husband Josh in 2020 after getting a degree in Animal Science. They have taken over the majority of farm management, continuing the ranch's legacy of over 50 years in beef cattle. The property includes 100 acres of woodland, which they use as silvopasture, just like her great grandfather did with his dairy herd. They are passionate about restoring pasture fertility through regenerative practices. The farm has been a beef cattle ranch for the last 50+ years, and Becca and Josh took over farm management in 2020. The land has historically been used for timber, berries, wheat, and dairy cows. Becca grew up helping her Grandpa and knew from a young age she wanted to farm. She got a degree in Animal Science before returning to the farm in 2020. They have been managing the farm for the last 6 years, with her Grandpa still involved.
