The Beginning of a Legacy The Barbee family begins farming on the land that would become Barbee Farms, laying the foundation for over a century of agricultural tradition. Formation of Barbee Farms Barbee Farms is officially established, continuing the family’s commitment to agriculture and marking a new chapter in its storied history. Conservation Farm Family of the Year – Cabarrus County In 2010, we were honored to be the Conservation Farm Family of the year in Cabarrus County. 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Certification Achieved Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) audits are voluntary audits that verify that fruits and vegetables are produced, packed, handled, and stored to minimize risks of microbial food safety hazards. Barbee Farms receives GAP certification, underscoring our dedication to food safety and quality assurance in all our farming practices. Harmonized GAP Certification Since 2019, Barbee Farms has received the Harmonized GAP certification, underscoring our dedication to food safety and quality assurance in all our farming practices. Sustainable Farming Practices At Barbee Farms, we prioritize soil health by implementing crop rotation and cover cropping techniques to enhance soil fertility and structure. Food Safety Protocols Barbee Farms adheres to strict food safety standards, ensuring that all produce is handled with care from field to table. Integrated Pest Management Our pest management strategies focus on natural predators and minimal chemical use to protect both our crops and the environment. Networking within the Community We work closely with Society of St. Andrews Gleaning Network to provide food assistance through local food pantries, soup kitchens, and other local agencies.
