Learn about our mission, goals, history & more. STAG VETS INC created the nation’s first Acute Veterans Crisis Agriculture center, Comfort Farms, named in honor of United States Army Airborne Ranger Captain Kyle A. Comfort, (KIA, May 8, 2010). Our premier location currently prepares veterans and students for careers in sustainable food production that integrates economic profitability, environmental stewardship, and healing through the use of a developing model of Agro-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and time-tested organic holistic approaches. The facility will also serve veterans in acute situations where time and help are of the essence. It features a short-term stay at our lodges donated by Georgia Manufactured Housing Association (GMHA). Through our monthly donors and annual sponsors, Comfort Farms has been able to provide the resources to offer shelter and peer-to-peer therapy to veterans and their families to regain strength and re-boot for everyday life and a fulfilling future. Since its inception, Comfort Farms has provided crisis services for hundreds of veterans. With the support of the USDA through agricultural grants, Comfort Farms has provided services to several hundred veterans and their families. The popularity of CF programs has reached several countries resulting in thousands of visitors from the U.S. and other countries. We promote a structured, holistic approach for displaced veterans suffering from PTSD and other invisible disabilities, aiding their reintegration into family, society and economy. Since its inception Comfort Farms has provided crisis services for over 80 veterans within the past three years of operations. With the support of the USDA, Comfort Farms also educated and assisted well over 500* veterans with agricultural grants. We envision a world where transformed veterans serve self, team, and community through nourishing the land, stimulating the economy, and expanding the availability of quality food. We envision self-sufficient farms all over America, with housing, training and social enterprise. Transformed veterans will play a vital role in improving the quality of life for all, rekindling the pride they felt in service. STAG VETS INC is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that is dedicated to providing the best care and treatment plan for Veterans who are homeless, in need, suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Our Program will focus on rehabilitation, reintegration, teaching and rekindling the strength to achieve greatness that is at the core of the (STAG) philosophy. We understand that every Vet who is homeless and in need of emotional support due to PTSD or TBI may feel that they lack the intestinal fortitude to achieve greatness. We will ensure that every Vet who comes through our program will find the strength in themselves to do something great again. We will maintain a structured, friendly, creative learning work environment that respects diversity Ideas and hard work. “As Executive Director of STAG VETS INC. I want all of our donors, supporters and volunteers to know that I am committed 1000% to making sure that our program and facilities operate above standard. The main reason I created STAG VETS, was that I could not find an organization to help someone like myself. I am a veteran with invisible wounds, living with Post Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injury sustained in combat. I have seen first hand how the war has been brought back from the battlefields into our homes. I have witnessed the devastating effects of PTSD left untreated which has caused many of my brothers in arms to lose everything they have worked hard for; with many ending their lives tragically by suicide. When I look across the landscape of organizations designed to help homeless veterans. I see a lot of organizations with good intentions, but at the end of the day many of these programs are only providing a band aid solution to the real issue.
