Newsletter Sign Up: Bee the first to find out about sales, new releases, and more! Roark Acres began in the early 2010s with a struggling backyard garden and a mission to grow healthy food for our family. After some research, we realized the garden was missing one very important piece: pollinators. We purchased two honey bee hives, and a fascination was born. As it turns out, bees are a lot of work. While we poured our time and energy into learning beekeeping, unfortunately, our neglected garden continued to decline (oops!). What we did end up with, however, was far more honey than we ever expected! At first, we shared it with family and friends, but soon we had more than we could give away. That led us to start selling honey from our home through Facebook. In 2012, when Michael was laid off from one of his jobs, we began to seriously consider turning our hobby into a full-fledged business. We officially created the Roark Acres Facebook business page in 2014 and soon after secured our first farmers market booth at the Tulsa Farmers Market, known at the time as the Cherry Street Farmers Market on Saturdays and the Brookside Farmers Market on Wednesdays. From there, Roark Acres continued to grow through trade shows and festivals across Oklahoma. That is where you could find us until we opened our first storefront in 2016. Since then, we have moved from our original Main Street location to our current, larger, home at 217 E. Main Street in Jenks. The move allowed us to rebrand to Roark Acres Honey House and General Store, and we are now able to carry goodies from 36+ (and growing!) local brands! Don’t worry, you can still find us at many trade shows around the state and in a variety of local retailers. (Be sure to visit our store locator page for more information.) Today, Roark Acres continues to grow. We operate a commercial kitchen/bottling facility and workshop at our farm in Sapulpa, and each year we expand our facilities and our hive numbers. Thank you for supporting our small business and your local beekeepers! At Roark Acres Honey House & General Store, our mission is to craft exceptional honey and beeswax products while curating a marketplace that celebrates the very best of Oklahoma while staying as close to nature as possible - pure, flavorful, and made with integrity. We believe in connecting our customers to the people, land, and traditions that make our region special, from our own hives to the 36+ (and growing!) local brands we proudly feature. Every jar, bottle, and gift we share reflects our dedication to craftsmanship, transparency, and the simple joy of good, local, wholesome food. Stewardship We care for our bees, land partners, and environment with integrity and respect, knowing healthy hives and ecosystems are the foundation of everything we do. Local First We champion Oklahoma makers, growers, and artisans, offering our customers products with a story, a face, and a local heartbeat. Craftsmanship From hive to jar, shelf to bag, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of quality, transparency, and freshness. Wholesome Choices We believe food should be as pure and nourishing as possible. That’s why we seek out products made with simple, natural ingredients, for healthier homes and happier taste buds. Community Connection Our store is more than a shop; it’s a gathering place for neighbors, friends, and visitors to discover good food, good conversation, and good company. Sustainability We are committed to reducing waste, reusing materials where possible, and supporting eco-friendly practices that protect our planet for future generations.
