We are an Oregon Tilth-certified farm dedicated to growing high quality produce, satisfied customers, and sustainable land stewardship. We use organic principles and two decades of experience to guide our production techniques. Organic requires soil and water conservation and prohibits the use of synthetic chemicals. Production occurs on about two-thirds of our land while reserving the rest for cover crop, hedgerows and occasional rotations of row crops. Our methods emphasize nutrient cycling with compost and cover crops, and pest management through prevention including row cover and providing habitat for beneficial insects. We DO NOT use genetically modified seeds, sewage sludge, irradiation, synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Since rooting into our forever farm property here in Coburg in 2014 we’ve worked with the NRCS on several resource conservation projects on the farm including planting over 800 native and fruiting shrubs and trees in hedges and buffers. When it comes to the end product—vegetables, herbs and berries– our goal is to provide our customers with fresh, clean, beautiful produce. This starts with the growing practices and seed choices but extends to how we manage cultivation, harvest and post-harvest handling all of which are done with attention to the quality of the crops. For 15 years we have been providing Eugene and Coburg area families with CSA Crop Shares—the heart of our farm. Jonah found his interest in agriculture as a teenager and over 20 years later he still loves this work. On the farm, he enjoys tasting the first fruits of the season and loves it when his children help in the fields including delivering popcicles. When he's not in the field he's making crop plans or ordering seed, baking with his kids or studying rocks. Amber started farming in the early 2000s. She was drawn to working in an environment that would nourish her body, mind and soul while making a tangible contribution to community health. From the soil, to the farm worker, to the customer-- nourishment is what motivates her. When not hustling on the farm via harvesting, planting, mowing, seeding or in the office-- Amber spends time with her children,in nature, designing things, or reading. Butters has been keeping spirits high on the farm since 2020. When she isn’t getting the zoomies or napping next to the kale patch, she’s overseeing pest control and investigating her own tail. Field Crew, Training Coordinator Miranda believes that everyone deserves to eat tasty, nutritious produce. She came to Camas Swale as a volunteer in 2021 and has become more involved ever since. When not getting very muddy on the farm, she enjoys cooking, crafting, and spending time with fuzzy animals. Jason hails from Michigan where he grew up wrangling cows. Now he wrangles the biggest vegetables this side of the Mississippi! He has been a vital part of the team at Camas Swale for over a decade. While not at work you can find him finding the peace of wild things. Ash moved to the Valley in 2020 and quickly fell in love with all the greenery. Ever since, you could find her in a greenhouse, grow room, or out in a field. She started at Camas Swale in 2024, and is excited for all the farming adventures of 2025. Off the farm, she loves traveling with her wife, coaching rugby, and snuggling her kitties. After many years of traveling around the globe Carolin settled in Eugene in the beginning of 2020. Looking to diversify her experience from working with specific crops and to expand beyond her small garden she joined the Camas Swale Team in 2024. You can catch her chasing waterfalls with her husband, baking bread or trying yet another craft hobby in her freetime. See our Work With Us page for staff openings.
